Pros

- A growing company within an interesting niche. - The software is nice. - Fully remote. - You'll know exactly what a toxic environment looks like the next time you see it.

Cons

- Toxicity - Gatekeeping - Nepotism This is the Holy Trinity of Pathway. Be very mindful of the pay you've agreed on in the beginning. Double-check if it's gross or net and the currency. Trust me on this. They will expect you to do whatever it takes to bring the company to the next level. Which, by itself, is something you should strive for in every company. The only difference here is that they will ask you to do this while being paid like someone from a third-world country. There is a bonus system in place, but don't be fooled by this, a large portion of the work is hogged by a small percentage of people, so you won't be seeing a meaningful amount of money any time soon. There are double standards within the company and you'll find out why as soon as you join them. "Rules for thee but not for me" is what would best describe this. It will become obvious to you once you request some time off for instance. The management does take what you say to heart until the end of the conversation after which they will do what they thought of doing anyway. In rare cases, there were meaningful changes but, rather than sticking to them, they would just revert to where they were and pretend nothing had happened. They have SEVERE trust issues but, as the Serbian saying goes - A thief thinks everyone is stealing from him. And boy is it true! The software ain't half bad. It's by no means original, but it's versatile. The problem is that the people that know the product don't know how to share the knowledge and keep changing processes however they see fit. They will let you know that there's nothing wrong with the way it works even though there are more exceptions to the rule than actual rules. Truly, the attributes of a good product. I get it, it's hard to create something that would fit everybody's needs. What makes it harder though, is what I've mentioned earlier - the one skilled person in charge of training has 0 abilities to transfer knowledge and is painfully oblivious to this. To the point where they become agitated, defensive, and sometimes just plain rude when someone brings this to their attention. Although, this somewhat works in their favor as they take on the majority of the work and, hence, the bonuses. You have no allies and no one to go to if you have any issues. HR is as toxic as the management and you're really better off leaving or just slaving away while people ignore and belittle you (if that's something that turns you on). Alek, the CEO is either completely oblivious to all this or completely on board with everything that's been going on. Either way, it's bad. It's really bad. I just keep imagining him with $$ for eyes and I'm probably not that far off.

Oh boy, this is a lot to unpack. I must be completely oblivious because none of this seems like it's coming from a sincere and honest person… but they clearly worked here. Let's start with pay. You get paid whatever we both agreed your salary would be. In fact, in your case, we paid you the exact same base salary as your previous job, plus we added the potential to earn a bonus. This bonus allows CSM’s to increase their salary by 50% and in the case of sales the bonus can increase the salary by 500%. Essentially everyone gets paid what was agreed upon. May I recommend you read Workers in the Vineyard from Matthew. It’s a bible story I think we could all gain a decent perspective from. It is normal for companies to assign their best customer service people to their largest and most important clients. I understand how this may seem unfair to you but we work on a merit-based system where people get promoted and bonuses based on meeting KPI's and not anything else. You mention Nepotism which is odd as I don’t have any family that works with us but I assume you are talking about your former team lead and her husband who is the technical CSM. Although they are not my family they are like family to me and I would do anything for them. Through hard work and loyalty, they made a lifelong friend of me, but this was available to you and is available to everyone that puts in the time and effort. I must say that when I first interviewed you I really felt that you could eventually become some sort of a team lead or manager. You projected a certain confidence and I believed it was a matter of time before you were promoted. As time went on I realized the numbers just weren't there. We met about it a few times and I tried to encourage you to reach your potential. That never happened and sadly you left without even a days notice. There was only 1 other person in the history of our company that left without any notice. You left our clients and your colleagues in a very difficult situation with no time to transition. Had you made 1 real human connection either with a client or coworker you would have had some empathy and given some notice. I'm not going to start calling you names but there is a name for people that lack any empathy. Unfortunately, I can’t wish you the best of luck moving forward. This post was meant to be hurtful, spiteful, and malicious but clearly, you didn’t have a great experience. I’m taking the time to respond because I want other people to know what a great opportunity Pathway is. Pathway is growing at a very fast pace and these situations have an organic way of rewarding valuable people more than others. If you’ve ever felt like you worked 3X harder than the person next to you but never received proper acknowledgment, Pathway might be a good fit! It is challenging but for those that can rise to that challenge it is rewarding and you’ll go home feeling like you did something important and meaningful with your life. We’re building a very important company and whoever is with us now will be able to say ‘I was there when…’ If there is one constructive thing I can gain from your post, it’s that we need to do a better job of recruiting the right people and avoiding disappointment. Thank you for saying the ‘software is nice’!
