Pros

Benefits are good. Salaries are average for position. Offer personal and semi-personal offices.

Cons

Keep your opinions to yourself or your job is at risk. Boss only wants yes men. Management says hours are flexible when necessary, but documents any time you have to be out of the office early (doctor, etc). However, management regularly leaves by noon to spend rest of day getting nails done and going to gym on "working lunch". Management says they are concerned with your safety during winter weather, but will be angry if you can't make it into work. Because they have SUVs and live nearby and can make it in must mean you're just lazy or making excuses if you're car or neighborhood prevents you. Management says they care for their employees, but regularly force extra work hours on weekends without overtime pay. Management will constantly tell you your ideas are wrong / be offended if you disagree with them and then tell everyone it was your fault things went wrong to cover their own mistakes. Management will tell you they fired your coworker of five years for 'undisclosed reasons' only to find out your coworker put in his two weeks a while ago. Management is only out for themselves and will walk over anyone they have to. Cut-throat for no reason. Have seen more turnover in past year than in all years with company. If you're not a personal friend of upper management, your job will constantly be at risk.

Pros

Walking through pie you'll get an understanding of why this company was once innovative and fun place to work. The walls are covered in fun, colorful art there's more snacks than you can shake a stick at, and like they say in every recruiting ad, there are no ties to be seen here. Unfortunately the novelty wears off.

Cons

No Communication: Communication between departments is almost nonexistent, leading to missed deadlines and an extreme gap in consistency. Interdepartmental communication is even worse. Disregard to Deadlines: Certain members of management believe these are negotiable, ignoring reminder emails and making sure to pass blame when problems arise. Bridges have been burned between certain vendors. Argumentative: Arguments arise often, mostly provoked by a few specific individuals in management. Often stemming from being told they are wrong or Lack of Vision: 'Do I look like a guy with a plan? ', remember that quote? This is often the case at PIE. There's a lot of wasted time trying to nail down a concise plan for a single project because of closed door conversations and lack of experience in brand marketing. Often leading to 'look at me' tactics like using a live chicken at a conferences. The list goes on...

Creating and supporting the number one financial planning software takes passion, innovation, and hard work. This means trying new tactics and new ideas, and we don’t always get it right. Major decisions are made through discussions – and, since we’re all passionate about what we do, there often are energetic discussions. To someone from a more traditional corporate environment, these discussions may seem argumentative, but it’s our way of getting to an optimal solution. It’s a process that works for us – as evidenced by our industry leadership and product innovations. Almost every organization can improve communications – we’re no exception. It’s true that we have a fast-paced, fluid environment that relies heavily on informal communications – and that isn’t a good fit for everyone. We need employees who are confident, competent, take initiative, and easily adjust to changes. Yes, we’re quirky, and proud of it. Many tech companies are. We’re also reinvesting heavily in our business and our employees – and we’ll continue to do so as we grow.
