Pros

Easy and dependable, once you get through the probationary period it’s a pretty secure job.

Cons

Staff discount could be better. It’s expensive. Store directors are rewarded for the hard work of the employees. Workers should be paid more or at least get a grocery stipend.

PCC Community Markets Response

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we appreciate your feedback. We provide all staff with a 15% staff discount and all PCC staff members are bought in as members of our co-op so they are eligible for member-only discounts and promotions. We share your concern about ensuring that our pricing is fair and spend considerable time working to ensure that it is. Our retail prices are set to ensure our ability to offer our staff competitive wages and benefits; to pay the small and mid-sized farmers, ranchers, and producers we work with a fair price for their goods; and, unique to us as a co-op, to return a portion of our profits through the dividend program back to our nearly 75,000 members. Our decision to prioritize organic and non-GMO items as part of our commitment to an environmental bottom line also means we don’t carry lower-priced conventionally-grown and produced food. If you have any other feedback, we encourage you to talk with your Store Director or you can contact Human Resources at 206-547-1222. Thank you, Alyssa Moore Recruiting Specialist

Pros

Low stress side gig - combination of customer service and dishwashing, assisting nice chefs, helping adults and kids learn to cook. PCC discount is great. Customers are typically happy, chefs are good at what they do and easy to work with, classrooms are nice working spaces.

Cons

The cooking program has recently been revamped and is mostly meat-forward date nights. Current upper management has a top-down style and has burned bridges with many local chefs and past assistants.
