Pros
The environment is very conducive not only for the students but for the staff as well. In recent times, the work day has been extended but there is still a strong work/life balance that working in the school creates. Management provides breakfast snack and lunch for the teachers which goes a long way in making the staff feel comfortable. There is a strong focus by management on staff professional development. The school organises continuous professional development training at the end of the academic year which is not exclusive of training (local and international) that certain members of staff are eligible to attend at the company's expense. Staff generally get along with each other and had good work place harmony.
Cons
The company rewards loyalty which means that the academic leadership system is made up of people who have been there the longest rather than who is more dynamic. I felt that the students were coddled too much. Tutors were expected to seek the students out or pander to parents' eccentricities beyond the scope of appropriate relationship management. Many of the teachers were out of touch with the times and this reflects in the way they handle the students in and out of the classroom. Many lack the dynamism to manage the students in the way a 21st century teacher is expected to.
