Pros
+ The benefits package was great. + Many of the people that work there are very caring. + The company really does want you to expand your knowledge and be very informed. + The company has been very transparent about its recent financial challenges and has held "Town Hall" meetings to address them.
Cons
- Despite resistance from upper management, unionisation is imminent due to the way employees have been treated over the last year. - The company has consistently been doing things to make employees' pay less, even on the lowest level. They reduced the amount of shift differential you get, they reduced the amount of PTO you accrue, and they have reduced the amount of bonus you get for carrying extra certifications. - Many employees are now losing up to $10,000 this year for doing the same work they did last year. - Employees on the clinical side are even more overworked because they have not been hiring to help buffer the employee attrition rate. - Working at any hospital within ORH is honestly like still being back in high school. Management is constantly checking to see if you are chewing gum, talking on your cell phone, returning from break on time (breaks cannot be under or over 30 minutes). - Simply put, you are not treated as an adult. - Moving up in the company is a very, very slow process. There are many who have worked for 10+ years doing the exact same job. Moving up is very difficult and discouraged. - ORH has a culture of wanting everyone to be in their place at all times. Moving up and vacating your position is seen as threatening to the culture. - These "town hall" meetings don't usually allow much time for questions, and usually give a very slanted view on the financial crisis that this hospital is facing.
