Pros

OFB defies the common issues other nonprofits face. They are well-organized, efficient, and have a lot of goodwill in the community. They are well-connected and are able to make a real change. Their advocacy department has drawn ire from conservative members of the community, but this is a feature, not a bug, of nonprofit work. Nonprofits should be loud about the good work they do. They should also not be afraid to hold our state and local governments accountable. OFB does both well. OFB also pays more than other nonprofits in the area.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about this organization. I miss working here.

Pros

The mission, good healthcare benefits, and paid volunteer hours.

Cons

Broken systems, and absolute denial towards the work needed to fix those systems. Work time is spent discussing problems in endless meetings instead of doing anything to fix them. Don't expect to have growth opportunities (with increase in compensation) until you've put in at least 6 years. Many vacant roles with their corresponding workload forced onto you without recognition. Extremely stressful, lots of gaslighting.
