Pros

Prestige of UHG as Fortune 5

Cons

not all sr managers or directors are healthcare savvy. business is run with vague directions, poor listening skills from sr managers and directors; driven to to temporary solutions and projects and futile attempt to invest in long term solutions and plans for improvement; given that the outsources came from India majority of directors and vps are Indians; does not really seem to seek the best interest and growth for their ph managers but secure their visas, lifestyles and functions in the philippines. frontline agents are offered at lower rates with very complex tasks and demanding metrics and nearly impossible goals; no clear roadmap and onboarding and bench preparation for future leaders; most leaders are hired externally and no program for agents to learn more skills; 18 month clause from current grade to higher grade is defeating and nearly impossible since most people move from manager to manager and an employee's entire track record of work seem to be lost if a new manager assesses their performance; recruitment employs poor assessment methods for hires and does not attract proper talent to join but settle with the cheapest agents they can offer; HR employee relations is automated and HR staff do not engage with people; no open desk for people to go to for issues and help items; gossip, rumor mongering; false claims; propaganda is promoted and encouraged; HR does not investigate issues and hear all parties concerned and simply follow what operations want; no proper exit interview process; people leave the org without being heard or investigated with true reason for dissatisfaction; directors spend most of the welfare budget with their lavish travel arrangements while agents travelling as support are treated cheap and offered at budgetary options; blame game is frequent and tolerated; directors promote favoritism and tolerate hearsay from others who question workers that are sincere and nice; bullying is rampant; security personnel are often rude and sarcastic; hr is not really hr here but a prop to facilitate blame game propaganda preferred by indians

Pros

Some very talented people give so much of themselves to the company, the clients and their co-workers. I work with (and have worked with) some excellent, smart, supportive people.

Cons

Too many layoffs. Upper management is clueless about how the day to day work gets done, what it takes to make certain changes to processes, and how to treat employees. Some are great. Mostly, they just look at numbers. So many of us have been doing our jobs long enough to know what is needed for certain requests. But we don't get a voice. We just have to do it and suck it up. They are firing ('reduction in force') all of the seasoned staff and let the rest deal with the fall-out. So many teams are losing good people but those people are training their off-shore replacements before they are told about being cut. So how is that a reduction in force? It's just a reduction in payroll numbers. Everyone is on edge just waiting for the next axe to fall. And we have to try and learn or teach another role with less experienced people and more work. It's crazy. On milestone anniversaries, they send an email recognition but once the milestone gets to over 15 years, you are a target. Pay and benefits are fine by me. Raises are practically non-existent, even after layoffs and asking employees to take on more responsibility. that's messed up. They talk about work/life balance but that doesn't trickle down to the actual workers who are so stressed they fear for their jobs if they don't do the extra mile. Many of us are just hanging on instead of quitting so we can at least get some severance. Others are actively looking.
