Pros

Fascinating high end technology, great equipment & resources. Friendly atmosphere & flexible working patterns. The Carswells are really nice people who took everyone & their families away to Ottawa for Winterfest for a long weekend with everything included which was an experience I will always cherish. There are a lot of very clever & helpful people working here. The casual come & go hours are very convenient. You are generally left alone provided the work is done. Nice, comfortable & modern office. I enjoyed my time there immensely & also take great pride in the large project which I was primary technician for.

Cons

Poor pay...poor pay...poor pay! Considering the value of the assets & equipment plus the inherent responsibility you carry, the company must be able to pay the better.

Pros

The engineering work is very interesting and challenging, and I looked forward to going to work every day. There was relatively little overlap in technical skills among my co-workers, so everyone works together to get things done. Everyone is friendly, easy to get along with, and communicates well among each other.

Cons

Business conditions are always tenuous, resulting in cyclical hiring and layoffs depending on the cash flow within the company.

Pros

Highly dynamic working environment with lots of product development initiatives going on. You tend to work on different application areas with different markets. Gives good exposure to different industries, commercial/space/defense.

Cons

Compensation lower than industry standard. Need to increase the compensation for engineering staff to levels as surveyed by OSPE/PEO for them to retain their talent.
