1. Culture and morale: While Ontra presents itself as open and friendly, its internal culture often transpires to be insincere and, at times, toxic. Though the company invests in in-person gatherings intended to foster connections, such events instead reinforce a culture marked by judgement and inconsistent expectations. Trust internally is very low and morale has been in steady decline over the past several years, in part due to multiple rounds of redundancies which were poorly handled by leadership / HR with minimal transparency. Although the company projects strong growth, high employee turnover is a persistent issue.
2. Product credibility: The technology offering - particularly its claimed AI capabilities - is extremely overstated. In reality, many of the functions attributed to “proprietary technology” are handled manually by external contractors or non-legal administrators.
3. Progression: While leadership espouses a merit-based approach, promotions are typically arbitrary and individuals without the necessary skills or experience are often elevated to management roles.
