- I think the staff (below management) actually care about the mission and I've had the pleasure of working with some incredible engineers.
Cons
OVO used to be a reputable name as an employer, it used to tick a lot of boxes in terms of - career growth - employee wellbeing - satisfying work - company benefits Unfortunately, it exists in the shell of what it once was. Pay rises have been frozen for two years and promotions halted. All learning budgets have been revoked. The terrible communications from leadership and towards late 2025, we were finding more out from the press about the company than anything internal. And still no acknowledgement of the press after the fact. The tech department went downhill massively in 2025 when OVO hired the CTO who didn't survive the year in the role. Tech roles are now being outsourced to India and Lithuania, hiring of juniors has ceased so it's clear the value of internal employees has dissipated. A lot of extremely loyal employees who have a long tenure have either been made redundant, are off long term sick or have left the sinking ship. I would avoid working here if you value your wellbeing and career growth at work. Leaving wasn't something I wanted to do but felt like my hand was forced by the state of the company.
