Pros
Pay above average; company picnics; monthly birthday cake; great health insurance; GREAT people; like a 2nd family. Supportive & accessible HR. Company follows a Six-Sigma like operating system. Very generous PTO (you can purchase extra vacation days!) Excellent tuition reimbursement program. Annual employee survey where Otis takes feedback from its people and forms action plans to improve the culture- they then follow through with progress on the action plans. Job/skills training offered to employees. Senior management is engaged with employees of all levels and everyone from Ethics to HR are usually willing to lend an ear- that’s one of the best things about working for Otis is you know as an employee the company truly cares about its people and wants all to be positive and productive. If you are lucky enough to get in here, it’s a company that most will want to work at until they retire. Otis is big on developing talent and promoting from within as well.
Cons
Depending on your department, there can be many meetings daily (more than the norm)where often no decisions are made- this can be very frustrating. No clear expectations in some groups/departments; very loose guidelines on exactly what your responsibilities are. Again, depends on who you work for in terms of supervisor or manager.
