Ups and Downs. - Engineer O'Fallon Casting Employee Review

Pros

Two 14-day shutdowns that happen in summer and winter. No employee paid less than $15.75/hr. For engineers, there is a whole lot of experience to be had. The relatively small number of engineers means you have to/get to wear many hats. Be prepared to learn and perform outside of your field of study.

Cons

Professional/Engineering employees are paid substantially below-average salaries. Upper management is very hard to deal with for most people. Seemingly poor decisions of the upper management has often cost the whole company their bonuses. There exists a pervasive pessimistic attitude that seems to stem from upper management but is contributed to by all. Everyone is always "throwing rocks" at each other and everything always ends up being a huge "blame game." Engineers in the past few years have cycled through here for these reasons at a rate of more than 1 per year. If you're up for a challenge, and not going to tuck tail and run from every hardship in life until you find the cushiest, nerfiest job, this may be a job for you.
