Had 'one year' syndrome - Junior Software Engineer Nstein Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Decent starting salary and a good learning curve. A good place to pick up a load of web-oriented technologies as a graduate, and work with loads of system architectures too.

Cons

High staff turnover, combative office culture. I joined with 4 other junior engineers who had all left within two years. Not really made to feel part of a team or important in any way.

Pros

Company culture is very relaxed and friendly. Great place to work for those from Media or Newspaper industry markets.

Cons

Executive promises to take the legacy media/newspaper centric WCM/DAM products to new vertical markets fall flat on reality. With no experience outside of their legacy niche market, Nstein executives have no idea how to introduce their technology to new verticals and refuse to invest in consultation to learn how. Further exacerbating this is the lack of: an experienced marketing team, a realistic marketing budget, and a qualified strategic marketing plan. Sales and Marketing departments do not collaborate or communicate and are encouraged NOT to do so. Any deviation from legacy marketing activities must be funneled through middle management in Sales. I never saw one change approved in my tenure. Committing to the same ineffective sales and marketing activities each year and expecting different results goes against any business logic ever known but remains standard operating procedure within Nstein.
