Pros

Teams on the ground try to do the best job they can whilst Senior Management change the goal posts frequently without consulting the people in the know.

Cons

Ever changing goals equate to a serious lack of motivation on the ground. A sales force that sell the dream without consulting with operations that have to deal with the fallout. A company that is ‘lead’ by profit hungry people mean that it is unrealistic to plan and keep customers satisfied. An environment where it is preferred to have a bunch of vehicles that are clean and sat in a neat line rather than customer satisfaction and staff motivation make it hard to retain good people.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Glassdoor. We have recently made extensive changes across the Northgate UK executive to create a strong leadership team for the business. Inevitably, this team needs to drive continued change to improve our level of performance and we have established ‘embrace change’ as one of our cultural values to support this. I certainly expect all our teams to be comfortable with and support changes across our business. The last financial year was entirely focused on returning Northgate UK to VOH growth and stopping a serious historical decline while the rest of the UK market grew. This was successfully achieved and our focus this year is on continuing this growth while maintaining and improving our margins to ensure that Northgate UK delivers the profit growth expected by our shareholders. You made some remarks about ‘profit hungry people’ and it is important to clarify that the UK executive team are expected to deliver a strong return for these shareholders who are, ultimately, the owners of the business. Our HR & Marketing teams are working on ways to improve employee engagement and satisfaction. This is an on-going project that has our attention and focus, and there will be communication on this soon. I am sorry that you feel your experience at Northgate has been negative and I wish you all the best for your future career. Kevin Bradshaw

Pays the bills, Good BDM team.

Cons

Where to start….. Useless management. New business Team (order takers) get all the praise whilst the Account Managers do all the work. Commission structure is always tailored to New business. Paid in arrears and is always wrong, lucky if you do manage to sort it. Senior management are a waste of time, take it or leave it. Lost load of good people because of this attitude. No career progression, ones that do get promoted into seniors end up redundant. This seems to be a trend same thing every few years.
