Pros

Some of the paid staff are good

Cons

The administration is very unprofessional and lacking. Preferential treatment is given to those who don’t deserve it. Volunteer “officers” have too much say in the way the paid end of the agency is run. The volunteer “chief” is pompous and should not be in his position, as he abuses his power. The rigs and equipment are in rough shape. Morale is low. Micromanagement is high. And they cannot retain good staff.

Pros

Some of the nicest people to work with at the street level. Very proactive about training.

Cons

Some of the most incompetent and unprofessional leadership I have ever seen. Between allowing volunteers to run important operational and administrative leadership functions with little to no training or experience to hiring poorly qualified paid staff to work in management, this place is a mess. How do you bring in people that have been kicked off multiple other agencies and then allow them to be part of your leadership? How do you not have a single properly trained HR staff member or outsourced HR for handling of HR related issues? There's a reason for the constant hiring and high turnover, and it's definitely not the call volume.
