Pros
Working at NLR is like being a part of a family. People are warmly concerned for each other and make it a point to welcome new people. Many who work here (especially as summer staffers) remember it very warmly as a time of intense work and friendship.
Cons
Long hours, packed living conditions, and low pay are expected of everyone, partly because of the camp's status as non-profit. There is little diversity in terms of race, religion, or sexual orientation. Working for a summer is doable. Contemplating more is difficult.
