Pros
- beautifully new renovated store (+$50 million); the best on the avenue - addition of new high-end shops (Goyard, Celine, etc.) - great merchandise - employee discount + 30/30 - in-store events and fashion shows - CEO Karen Katz is a gem - store hours compared to other retailers - great product knowledge meetings with vendor reps where you learn first hand about the product
Cons
- anyone in upper management does not have a single clue what is going on - directions from corporate are an absolute nightmare coming down the pipeline and directives for a sale or event happening the next day can change numerous times via email throughout the night when you're sleeping and even during the day while the sale is happening; complete chaos - systems are extremely outdated and archaic (not to mention, don't work on Sundays) - as someone coming from management, you're only as good as your department's last numbers - no praise for anything; only hear what went wrong - strong focus on negativity - upper management doesn't do anything but shop for themselves all day (really? really.) - the politics, cattiness, and gossip that happens in this rumor mill are so unbelievable - do not support any career growth outside of the store - will make you work over-time and refuse to pay it out (and threaten to fire you over working over time if you are not "approved" to work it) - sales employees run their lives into the ground for this place to make a living (the return policy is out of control when it comes to this) - too many corporate visits that the entire store freaks out about for no reason - buyers are out of touch with current trends - drama drama drama at this store (is actually known as the 'problem child' store throughout stores nation wide and corporate All in all - the most unprofessional environment I have ever worked in, hands down.
