Pros

There are many hard-working and wonderful people to get to know and work with. Relatively easy-going atmosphere.

Cons

Senior engineers are old-timers who don't care about their subordinates' success, and may even try to sabotage them to their own advantage. They are likewise lazy. Managers don't bother to do anything about the senior engineers that are holding the organization back. Part of the reason is that it takes a herculean effort to oust anyone who is past their probationary period. As such, it's the junior engineers' who get thrown under the bus. Everything on base is extremely political. Most of the job is just knowing the right people, being on the good side of important people, and making it look like you're busy.
