Pros

Company was built by people who value people. Excellent work life balance, flex work, health & wellness, values based culture, community involvement, beautiful complex on golf course, full benefits package, competitive compensation, training and opportunities to learn and grow for employees. Strong brand in excess and surplus lines.

Cons

Parent company oversight and mandate for consistency has crushed this jewel of a company. Matrix reporting over used to the extent that valuable functions such as IT, Finance, Claims, HR are hamstrung to do what is right for the business. Talented leaders and associates are leaving daily for opportunities to do their best work elsewhere. IT systems behind the times. This ship is going down after 30 years of success.

Cons

Pros

-For the most part, the people you work with are good people. Made real lifelong friends and mentors. -As with all large companies, there are plenty of opportunities to advance and/or move around if something isn't a good fit. -One of the rare places still offering a pention

Cons

-Office politics promote plenty of people who don't deserve it and the teams happiness is highly dependent upon who you end up reporting to -WAY too much false urgency created by bad leaders -Big company means slow moving in all the stuff you want to go fast. Often times too many cooks in the kitchen
