Pros

Decent benefits, fairly steady and reliable employer. Mostly fair treatment as long as you go along with the program. Good vacation benefit once you've been there awhile (and you don't get sick and have to use it up!). Average office environment, but late in realizing that offices need upgrading. Facilities outside and the grounds and public areas of the buildings are nice and a source of pride, but they take better care of them than they do the inside working environment of the office. Health facility, bank, fitness room, library, company store are on site. Multiple clubs and organizations to join. The people... decent, hard working, good people work here.

Cons

Big company, easy to get lost in the maze. Typical large company culture... you are a mere cog in the machine instead of a valued person. Poorly trained managers, as in NO training for them to learn how to manage people as people (vs. them being just a "head count".) They also need to pay more attention to their own work/life balance. Good loyal employees are often screwed over for no reason by clueless management. Managers are largely inflexible. Your manager may not be on site therefore they have no clue about your situation. Pay is below standard for many jobs. Older employees are targeted for layoff too frequently. Inflexible work rules. Too traditional of a work environment, example: working from home is frowned upon unless your manager is a bit of a maverick. Technologically backward processing systems that are frustrating and hard to work with. Personal technology like printers, PCs, monitors, etc. not kept up to date but only replaced if it breaks or reaches a point in the schedule for it to be replaced. Software is not updated at all unless you fight for it. Some access to the internet is blocked, sometimes for no good reason. CEO and top execs are poor examples (i.e., recent stock option cash-in when NW Mutual reacquired NW Financial and the company overall is not doing well). They are removed from the people actually doing the work and appear to have little clue to the concerns of the average worker.

Pros

Culture is great, it feels like working with family. I have a good work life balance.

Cons

The pay could be a lot better as the world gets more expensive our pay should reflect that.
