Pros
Good benefits. That is about it.
Cons
Arbitrary and unrealistic sales goals. Store managers shoulder responsibility for sales, marketing, customer satisfaction etc., yet have zero input. Nobody listens or cares. Everything is the fault of the store manager. Constantly being told, "We need to make our goals today (this week, this month, this year)". Really, as if we didn't know that. I will just snap my fingers and suddenly the store will fill with eager customers ready to buy several pairs of glasses with all the extras. How come I didn't think of that before. silly me. I have never witnessed such magical thinking by corporate management. We are regularly asked by our DM (that is another story of an incompetent employee) to tell her what plan we have in place to make our sales goal for the day, week whatever. How many different ways can I say it. We don't have enough staff (they don't want to hear that if course), Dr. Won't cooperate and sell from the chair, leaves early, takes time off. The store is slow and walking through Walmart handing out flyers won't solve the problem. So I just make stuff up because you can't tell them the truth, they consider it an excuse. Also, they could not possibly care less about their employees. Our DM moves people around from store to store on a whim. Who cares if you now have to drive 45 minutes instead of 10 and you have kids. Not to mention there is no good reason for the move. I guess she has to show her boss she is doing something. 2 weeks later, the employee gets moved back. Who knows what she is thinking.
