Pros

This is not an area I can spend substantial time on. I cannot in good faith develop a meaningful list of positive attributes for the NGA. My work here was some of the most unpleasant years of my professional career, and I had more satisfaction when leaving the NGA. It is only fair this is reflected in my review.

Cons

1. Inconsistent employee recruitment and onboarding. 2. Inconsistent and incoherent employee promotions. 3. A promotion process (rank-in-person) not widely used across government. 4. No interest in employee engagement 5. No interest in career development of workforce 6. Management at all levels who lack management skills, are not held accountable, and who manage by fear, bullying, intimidation, and have no shame. 7. Career instability in an agency that forces its employees to change jobs every few years because of its Mission Position Window (MPW) policy, one that treats employees like chess pieces without any regard for their career goals, career development, or personal aspirations. 8. Mission first, people last!

Pros

Great co-workers. Lots of time off

Cons

Poor senior leadership lacks effectiveness. Promotion decisions prioritize diversity objectives over merit, with less qualified junior personnel (mostly female) advanced to Band 4 and Band 5 positions ahead of more qualified candidates. Additionally, daily workloads are insufficient to fill an 8-hour shift.
