Pros
Most of my co-workers are friendly, genuinely nice people who care about each other and the community we serve. Schedule flexibility (in some units, not all). Mileage reimbursement.
Cons
Unfortunately there's a "good ole boy" mentality and lower management supervisors are scared to stand up to the upper management. It seems like management fills positions with whoever they want to, sometimes without even posting the positions. And even when they do post the jobs, it seems like they already know who they are planning to hire so the interviews are pointless. Office supplies are sometimes hard to come by which is ridiculous for an agency that size. Many aspects are micro-managed. They need to treat staff like adults, not children. Some neighboring counties pay more.
