Lack of infrastructure--they are constantly trying to grow in every direction but lack the foundation for anything to be truly successful. Siloed work environment--lack of collaboration between teams and departments. Egocentric managers that lack self-awareness and often times experience--this results in high turnover of quality people who are looking for mentorship and opportunity for development from their management. It is never a good thing when you know more about a topic than your manager who is supposed to be the "expert" in the area. Lack of training for staff and focus on people development--you will never be successful if you don't properly train and provide developmental opportunities for your staff. Lack of compensation Lack of industry experience--This is prevalent throughout the organization regardless of department or level.
