Pros

I started as a driver. As time progressed, I made it to the counter in an independant store. Started as a counterman for GPC Corperate. Within 2 years I was an ASE certified P2, and an assistant manager. There is room to grow, if you are one of the boys. You have almost unlimited resources to buy anything for anyone at any time. The counter crews are usually have years of knowlege, some were wrench turners, or painters, so there is always somone that knows somthing that you dont. We still have paper catalogs, and we know how to use them effectivley, which seems to be a major downfall of our competition.

Cons

MANAGEMENT ABOVE STORE LEVEL!!!... When you hear of a district manager, refer to himself as the "windshield" and an employee as "the bug" there is somthing wrong with the manager, not the employee. I work at a store in which the DM is almost 100 miles away, so we dont see him much. The stores are micro managed to the point in which really talented people are leaving because of it. Our jobs are threatened constantly with the phrase " Im not threatening your job , but..." sounded like a threat to me. We are in my opinion understaffed, the managers OFTEN work more than 65 hours a week, and mine seems to get berrated daily. I have been with the company for 17 years, and still wear a dark blue shirt. I was an assistant manager, but stepped down because of pay. You can choose to be an assistant manager and make 30k a year and work 50 hours a week, or make 32 k a year and work 40 as a P2. What has been happening lately is they ahve been hiring outside the company to fill openings, instead of promoting the people that have been with the company and deserve the chance.

Pros

The hours are great compared to Autozone or O’reilly, the pay is much better compared to other auto parts retailers too. Anyone who complains about Napa Auot Parts doesn’t know what it’s like to work for their competitors. Unless you work for independent Napas I know their pay is different from corporate but I feel like this company actually cares about their employees and treats them fairly in regards to pay, and working here is much better and has a better work life balance compared to other retailers which is a plus. I can see myself making this a career and staying long term I love my job and what I do.

Cons

Tams sucks and catalog sucks, thats literally my only complaint about this company they need to upgrade the whole system and the way they do inventory and everything with regards to technology.

Pros

At the time of writing, I have worked for Napa for 9 years. I can say with a great deal of experience that the fellow employees will make your day. Easy people to work with all around. Something about the shared struggle of working for NAPA will really bring a group of folks together. Customers who come into a NAPA come for a reason. I find this to be a much different experience from other auto parts stores. Customers know what they are talking about, and that makes the job all the easier. Hours are consistent almost to a fault, but you will ceratily get at least your 40 hours.

Cons

When I first started with NAPA, they genuinely cared about their employees(gift cards on bday, anniversary lunch, anniversary gift, holiday bonuses, company-wide holiday parties). That is all gone. All management you will have personal contact with has ZERO authority to do ANYTHING. Do not expect a merit-based raise, or even a yearly raise(no raises in 2 years despite $2.3B in net profit for 2025). It seems to take an act of god to fire employees who literally do not do their job. DO NOT CLIMB THE LADDER. The higher you get in this company, the more you will regret it.
