Friendly and polite only during interviews before starting work

This was among my first jobs and it gave me a lasting bad impression, they said they would provide guidance on said tasks during interviews but did not follow up after. So I’d have 50% of my time at work doing my own research, and the other 50% doing actual work and getting scolded. Did not help that the job required so much technical knowledge a student cannot possibly have. The boss and the lead designer have a power trip attitude when talking to you and they also talk behind you. They also won’t respect your set boundaries, even if you politely tell them many times. And they bully you for it. This came to a shock to me as i thought it was an industry standard, but now that I’ve worked many jobs, I now know.
