Pros
They put on BBQ's so there's food after a long week of tidying up after management on a Friday. You get a free lunch, but there's no such thing as a free lunch. There's many opportunities to start new projects. The CEO is passionate, as are upper management. You meet a wide range of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Cons
They put on BBQ's to give the illusion of a cohesive and united work force... that forces you to come in Friday's to tidy up after management leave it a mess and delegate that workload to the interns and employees. People literally store essential code and toolchains on their personal machines and hard drives. There is no fundamental engineering documentation for the majority of their products Your items may go missing and be the subject of theft, and despite this it will appear to not be taken seriously. This is not an isolated incident. People will smoke and vape in the office. It's all open plan, so you hear everything. Including metal hammers on metal beams. The CEO is passionate, but this translate to increased unscheduled workloads. They have been intending to move offices since 2020. They have said every year it will happen any time soon. It doesn't. There's many opportunities to start new projects... but they will be constantly juggled and priorities will shift daily depending on how stimulated the CEO is.
