Pros

Do you know of the alphabet? Congratulations, you are qualified for this position. Highest paying job for someone starting young. They start hiring at 16 y/o. You start at $8.50, get 4x $0.20 raises every 6 months for a maximum of 2 years. Lots of variety in flexible shifts. 9a-5p, 1p-9p, 9a-1p, 1p-5p, 5p-9p, 3p-7p, 2p-6p, et al

Cons

Nepotism. Myself and plenty others who may have worked for 4+ years were turned down for promotions in lieu of those who had been there for 1 but had connections. Library has FT employees who have been working there for 25+ years and does not even consider hiring a new FT employee until each one retires. This maximum hours any part time employee can work is 17.5. You will not get promoted.

Pros

I worked this job all throughout high school and college, and even stayed when I got a job in my field of study for a while because I didn't want to leave. The people are amazing, so friendly and everyone genuinely loves their jobs. The behind the scenes at the library is so interesting and I loved being exposed to the "business" side of it behind the scenes. They always worked with my schedule and the pay was fantastic. I was able to begin contributing to my 401k at the age of 16! This job taught me fundamentals that I've taken to all other jobs and truly is the best job for starting your career. If you are interested in library science, I would highly recommend earning your degree and staying as it is an extremely stable and rewarding job! Amazing library and even more amazing people.

Cons

Not a con for me, but you must be on time for your shift and clock in within a certain period otherwise you are late. This is great as it ensures people are there for the incoming shift to relieve the current workers, but if you're not an on time person I wouldn't recommend it.
