Big Mistake - Respiratory Therapist Methodist Health System Employee Review

Pros

Most of the staff is nice. Pay is usually on time. The building is still standing. It is easy to spot from the highway. That’s all I have.

Cons

“Good ol boy” network is law. There is no advancement unless you are friends with the person in charge of your advancement or a friend of theirs. Outdated ideas and practices are in full usage and recommending anything different will get you ostracized. Morale is extremely low due to heavy assignments, being purposely understaffed, and no appreciation from management. Very high turnover rate.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. All leaders at Methodist Health System are called to live our organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values in the workplace, not only when it comes to our patients but also to our employees. We are proud of being recognized as one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review eight years in a row. That said, sometimes we fall short, and what you describe does not reflect how much we value the hard work of our therapists and nurses. We are listening, and we want to learn more about what you have experienced. If you’d like to discuss the issues you have in more detail and with confidentiality, please email us hrcareer@mhd.com.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
