Pros

The customers are awesome, employees are great. Management required hours are outstanding if you have no life and don"t care about compensation.

Cons

Pay is not on a fair scale at all locations. Company will attempt to squeeze more out than available. Store managers are treated like indentured servants and paid like depression era migrant workiers. Hours are long, Work-life balance is a myth with this company

Pros

Great base and attainable bonus. I worked there for 4 years and saw a lot of people come and go. The ones that left typically weren't very good and expected something for nothing. Follow the rules, hire your own people and learn to float with ever changing company directives and you will do just fine.

Cons

A lot of hours are required. I worked 50-55 hours per week. Too many emails. 6:30 am conference calls every Friday.

Pros

I made a lot of money as as Service Manager and then a Store Manager for Merchants Tire. The PTO and vacation package for management was above average.

Cons

Do not expect to have a life outside of Merchants. As a Manager they expect you to work between 65 and 75 hours per week. If you are short staffed which most stores are you will be expected to work open to close 7 days a week. God help you if your store actually becomes profitable they will send in the auditor and the Spanish Inquisition will look like childs play. Expect to do some sort of full on inventory at least every other month tieing up the majority of your Sunday. All hands on deck (every employee working) during their "Super Sales" that laughingly last up to 4 weeks at a time and are at least once a month. You better be able to sell the flavor of the month if not be prepared for 6am conferance calls. Expect everything to change corporate people, store level people your pay rate and bonus structure. The first year I was there my pay structure changed 9 times most of the time I had no idea how they calculated my pay. If you are a manager watch your P&L they hid a corporate employee on my payrole to the tune of $5000.00 per month and that cost me a few bonuses. Be prepared to get no advertising support and to literally have your job threatened every day no matter what your KPI looks like.
