Pros

-Smart folks, lots of variation in projects -Good vacation, when they let you take it -Company is well known

Cons

Where do I begin... they have annual layoffs despite being up nearly 3-7% year over year. Nearly everyone I knew never got a merit increase and bonuses are often slashed or reduced. Almost everyone below mid level is paid well below market, so attrition and retention is an issue constantly. Partners and managers are often egotistical slave drivers that cuss at you or make you feel worthless if you make a mistake of any kind. Training is non existent and the culture is one where you must work yourself to death or step over the dead bodies of your own teammates to get ahead. The sickening part - MERCER IS AN HR CONSULTING FIRM!! For the love of humanity, you consult on issues like this but can’t solve them for your own company?!? Drink your own koolaid! It’s ridiculous that you have 60% turnover at the mid level and below. Mercer is a global authority in compensation data... it’s not like they don’t know what to pay people! They are experts in employee engagement and culture but the morale is awful... and not just in one office... every major office!

Mercer Response

Former colleague, We appreciate the feedback you have provided. We are disappointed you felt that you did not have a productive and engaging career path during your time at Mercer. We actually take the development of our colleagues very serious and provide a wide number of opportunities and options at all levels of our organization. Regarding our goals and compensation, we always strive to improve, but we do place a great deal of value sharing our successes across our businesses. We are clearly disappointed to hear about the experience you had while at Mercer and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Remote flexibility, which is nice.

Cons

You will not get a raise and if you do, it'll be 1%. Managers will not help you with escalating issues, you're on your own. It'll be blamed on you. You'll work so much overtime you won't have a social life.
