Pros

WCG/MAPP had great technology to work with and a very competitive benefit package, especially on the healthcare side. So many employers charge 3x what MedAvante does and they’ve kept their insurance from going up for several years. This means more money in your paycheck. PTO is also generous even starting out at the company. Remote work is nice too but this is less of a novelty since many companies allow remote work now.

Cons

One of the biggest issues I’ve had when I worked here is with the leadership. I personally dealt with at least 3 people in managerial positions that were very poor and punitive. My direct manager often thought it was okay to belittle and demean me in front of other colleagues during meetings and it was completely unwarranted making the environment hostile and unwelcome. This person would try to make me look incompetent when I was one of the highest performers on the team. I usually completed work early but they would make it sound like I’m inefficient. I think this person was threatened by me because I came with the same years of experience that they did so they tried to put me down. I never was able to determine their value either and suspected that they really didn’t add any. I talked to this person about the behavior and they pretty much mocked me and still continued to cross boundaries so it became a loose, loose situation. I was appalled at how immature their behavior was (typical school yard bullying). I also was on the receiving end of some pretty pedantic behavior by this person. They would jump all over my case for the smallest most insignificant things that has no bearing on the successful completion of the project. I mean they literally didn’t let anything go. It was like working with a nagging mother. People like this are who MAPP chooses to hire into leadership roles. The micromanaging is out of control at this company too and they micromanage to a ridiculous degree. Part of the issue is that the company is too top-heavy as there are more people in leadership roles than there are rank and file employees. In my area there were at least 4 managers but only 2 of us did any actual work. So it becomes very top-down and corporate. Other cons include terribly boring and watered down work. I found I did much higher level work at other companies. There are too many rigid policies and step-by-step requirements that leave no room to utilize personal judgment. There’s too much red tape. There’s no room for growth and I’ve heard nightmare stories about people being blocked from pursuing higher level roles at this company. People are unsupportive and often don’t get back to you. You have to sign your life away on everything because they’re paranoid. The hours are not flexible. They function like they’re still in the 1980’s even though they have good tech. Raises and bonuses are horribly low so be sure to negotiate a good package because you’ll need it. I mean it’s not even half of what inflation is right now. The company is terribly disorganized! I’ve never worked for a more reactive place. They’re so reactive that they jump on you for being proactive. There’s more but you get the gist. It’s just too much to write about and for that reason I can’t in good faith recommend anyone work here.

Pros

MedAvante began a tremendous growth surge in the fall of 2014 behind the launch of Virgil. The growth has been extreme over the last 3 years. Growth creates stress but it also creates a lot of career opportunities. Further the growth and influence of MedAvante allow us to recruit higher quality talent. We definitely need more resources to keep up with the growht.

Cons

After MedAvante was acquired a new CEO was installed. The new CEO needs time to prove himself but so far his skills seem limited to operations and project management. He doesn't seem to bring a strategic vision or any sense of people leadership. So far people are taking a wait and see approach but seem underwhelmed.
