Pros
Working at Maxio gave me the opportunity to collaborate with genuinely talented product people, especially during the platform unification efforts.
The unlimited PTO policy was a real benefit, and the work-life balance was solid—something that's hard to find at a lot of companies.
Cons
I worked with some really great people during my time here, which made the day-to-day genuinely enjoyable. That said, there were a few challenges worth mentioning.
The company experienced a lot of leadership transitions, which sometimes made it difficult to maintain direction on longer-term projects. There's also a fair amount of technical debt that can slow progress. I had hoped to take on more responsibility over time and expressed that interest, but those opportunities didn't materialize. I also noticed the team could benefit from more diversity.
The departure process was hard. What I expected to be a regular 1:1 ended up being an HR call where I was let go without prior notice. Access was cut immediately, and I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to colleagues I'd built relationships with. It was unexpected and made for a difficult ending to an otherwise meaningful experience.
