Pros

- It will help you develop your skills in handling phone conversations - if you need those - Also can get some experience in handling angry customers. -

Cons

- Super boring place to work at (at least the call center.) You work in a cubicle in a dark warehouse looking building - you loose self appreciation pretty quickly. - very bad incentives in the way the system is organized. Maximus is paid by CA government for the number of calls processed a day. This means that call reps are forced to do anything but make calls shorter, which normally leads into very unhelpful customer service. - Pay is minimum. - very high turn over - always a risk of loosing job, if the govt. decides to discontinue the contract. (and with the CA budget problems the risk is high every time) - No bonuses, not raises. No company culture. Pretty much just 8-5 in-n-out work.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
