Pros

MathWorks is a company where the Values statement really guides the day to day operations. There are no "bulldozer" personalities or deference to the highest paid person in the room. Everyone is expected to be civil and have logical reasons for their positions. There is strong commitment to you as a person and creating work/life balance. Privately held, with strong commitment to the well being of all employees. If you have ever worked at a large, dysfunctional company then MathWorks is a breath of fresh air that you will appreciate. Diverse and inclusive workplace. Showcase for how a CEO can create a great culture by example.

Cons

Sometimes being inclusive and considerate means there are a LOT of people cc'ed on emails. Developing consensus is encouraged, but can take time. A considered approach can create longer cycle times for products. Over 150 products, so the systems and messaging can get confusing.

There are frequent, fun company events that help build connections across teams and contribute to a genuinely friendly and collaborative culture. Overall, the organization takes a very staff-focused approach, prioritizing employee well-being and fostering an environment where people feel supported and valued.

Cons

With a globally distributed workforce, it can sometimes be challenging to coordinate schedules or connect in person with colleagues.
