Pros
If you want to gain knowledge on how retail is operated, this would be a good job to dive into. Since Marshalls are big stores, you can gain a broad knowledge of each department and how to do things in all areas of retail. Being at a job that has high inventory is great becasue the hands on experience is great..from processing things, to knowing how the fitting room works and the registers, to seeing things come in the back stock area, to the floor, and much in between is great if you want to work your way up the retail scale.
Cons
Where can I start..Marshalls is a off price retailer, so the clothes are cheaper in price, and 1 to 2 seasons off from desgners..maybe more. The stores are big, so there is alot of inventory, leading to alot that can be messed up by customers, hence, alot for you as an employee to clean up! People dont care, is what I noticed, I dont know if its because its a lower end store or what, but people try on shoes, leave then in the middle of the isle, with the box and stuffings all out. One shoe is at the front of the store, and another at the end. Pocketbooks are a mess...putting them in color order is great, until people take a white bag, and just drop it in with the blues. People have left clothes in the oddest places, when they realize at the last minute they dont want them any more. Its a pain when you hear customers say "oh she will clean up after me because she works here." Its hard, to clean then straighten up, and someone come behind you and mess up again, I know this is the life in retail, but wow, never saw it this bad!
