Pros
With all academic places, there is job stabillity and decent benefits. With MD Anderson you get some satisfaction knowing that the work you do is important and potentially life-changing for patients.
Cons
Parking is scarce and expensive. As with all academia, pay is not comensurate with title/experience/work demands. And PI's have way too much power and security. I found out that my PI had numerous complaints prior to me joining and when I made complaints about behavior (habitual, unprovoked screaming in meetings, unreasonable demands and threats of retaliation) they were ignored. Not all PI's are bad but those that create a toxic work environment should not be protected by the institution.
