Pros
Decent wage, £8.45 an hour (increasing to 8.75 from 20th April 2018) 50% off products and free things. Once you’ve worked for the company it’s easier to get a job in other roles in the company.
Cons
I’ve worked at two different stores and been sexually harassed in both, the management are always a sham, the pressures to be happy all the time is so hard, you’re forced to approach cutomers that don’t want to be talked to, you get spoken to like you’re incapable of wiping your own backside, they’re patronising, couldn’t organise a p*ss-up in a brewery, the company do not really care about their staff and would rather protect their back about how their store looks to outsiders, you break your back and work your hardest to be spoken to like you’re a slacker. They do not treat their staff well at all, they management (eg supervisors, trainees and managers) get so many more perks than us, do less work than us, are very clique-y, you will never feel fully accepted there. A friend of mine complained about the same man that was sexually harassing me and her (and a few of the new girls) and our manager said it would look bad on her if it was taken any further... the man then forced himself on another member of staff at a later date and only then was fired... WHY DID IT HAVE TO GET TO THAT POINT? There’s far more bad points, but I’d literally be here all day, the wage is the only thing that is keeping me there, but I’ve now realised my own mental health is far more important. I’ve lost all confidence in myself since working there, and nothing is changing it’s just getting worse and more people are realising it. They don’t recycle or anything either, they’re very bad at sorting waste ect so their ‘green’ front is all a lie.
