Pros
if you are interested in a career, Lowes can fulfill that goal. The benefits are superior to many. The 401K is one of the best of its kind and Lowes is a top 50 company to work for. It is easy to form a team within the stores and be a part of that team. Lowes customers are great and willing to form a relationship with their sales specialists. Stock performance has shown a steady gain and has rewarded many employees for their hard work and dedication. Robert Niblock has implemented many different bonus structures to ensure monetary rewards for senior managers despite housing lull.
Cons
Long hours, stress, lack of schedule planning to create a work/life balance. Low payroll hours. Dinosaur computer systems, Lowes could learn from Home Depots practice of having a team dedicated to filling shelves, stocking, while allowing the sales personel to concentrate on the customers without worrying about inventory replenishment deadlines. There is still remnants of the "good old boy" syndrome, where its who you know and not what you do to ensure promotions or transfers. Lack of employees can make you feel as if you are alone and doing most of the physical work yourself. But with the right direction, good management will fill the void.
