Working under Chris Finlay at Lloyd Jones was the most unprofessional and disorganized experiences of my career. His erratic decision-making, constant mind-changing, and complete lack of integrity created a toxic work environment. It was common for teams to record meetings just to prove what had been decided, as he frequently forgot or contradicted himself. Finlay openly bad-mouthed employees and fostered a culture of fear with his infamous mantra, which he repeatedly stated to staff: “Hire fast, fire fast.” This reckless approach led to constant turnover and zero stability. Firings were abrupt, never handled by Chris Finlay, only by others on his behalf, with no warning or accountability. The revolving door at Lloyd Jones is no joke; I’ve never seen higher turnover anywhere. If you’re considering a position here, think twice. Leadership sets the tone for any company, and under Finlay, that tone is chaotic, uninspiring, and toxic. Proceed with caution.

I had not checked our Glassdoor site in a while, and was surprised to find these comments. I have been with Lloyd Jones/Aviva Senior Living for close to 3 years now and I have never heard anything close to the comments about the mantra supposedly used frequently in any form or variation. On the contrary, in my position recruiting for Lloyd Jones and Aviva Senior Living, I have experienced the opposite in meetings and conversations--to use my skills and time to find the right person for the position who is committed and is looking to stay and make a difference. We have been honing our hiring processes to try to find the right person for any position we have. This has resulted in our process being a little slower, but becoming more accurate. If any mantra I have heard it would be closer to Hire the Best, Retain the Best. We have had some corporate cutbacks during the last couple of difficult years that senior living has been experiencing to focus resources on the communities. This strategy was implemented to make sure the residents received the care and respect they deserve. At this point our communities are experiencing unprecedented growth and increasing satisfaction scores with both residents and employees. I took my position to work for Chris Finlay and be a part of the vision he has for his company and it's continued growth. While being agile and responding quickly to market and economic influences are necessary for any company leader, I have never seen unethical behavior from our leader. I am sorry if this was a former employee that experienced job loss. I wish them the best in finding the right fit for their needs. Pros

Pay was okay for the area

Cons

Went through 3 regionals in the year I was with them. I wish they would have used my experience and why they hired me and stopped trying to micromanage me. Ex: Maint Director, who has very little exp, wanted me to send pics of my turn board to show that I was updating it.
