Hello and thank you for taking the time to review and mentioning the positives you experienced during your employment. As you noted, we work very hard to create a nice, relaxed work environment with a flexible schedule, excellent pay, benefits, and nice amenities.
To respond directly to your negatives, particularly as it relates to hourly employees, we understand that it is virtually impossible to work exactly 40 hours each week; and as such, we do not have a strict time keeping requirement relating to small overages. However, unless we have received prior notification to the contrary, the expectation is that teammates will work a full shift so that resources are not spread thin. We believe this to be a typical workplace requirement and not unique to Lightspeed.
For those team members working remotely, we require them to be focused and on-task when not on break -- just as if they were working at the office. Thus, not answering the phone, responding to emails or messages, or not being available in any way is very problematic and presents a unique challenge for maintaining a healthy remote working option. We do our best to accommodate all people and, as you are aware, give multiple opportunities to improve and grow.
In your advice to management, and last point of concern, you seemed to imply that we don’t care about our employees. When a person who was recently corrected for violating company policy on multiple occasions suddenly and angrily quits, but presents it as a “two-week notice”, we have an obligation to the rest of the team to accept that resignation effective immediately. We gratefully honor resignation notices when they are presented under good terms and faith.
I hope this response clears up any misperceptions. Thanks again for your time.
