Pros

Great community-based work environment (if you are working on company quarters and not stationed at client site), emphasis on employee development and goal-setting, cross-functional teams, access to various resources (whether it's office supplies or an ergonomic desk chair), flex-scheduling... the absolute best perk, good health benefits and 401k plan.

Cons

Hopefully some things have changed singe over the past 3 years, but there was hardly any management support, control monitoring or recognition for my contributions. Because contractor jobs can land employees in client sites and buildings, there is a great divide in culture on the other side. Working client site can become problematic for various reasons, especially if there is the same lack of employee advocacy and structure that existed during my time there. Telling the story objectively, at the end of the day, the complete lack of proper organization/management for departments within the company left huge loopholes that led to me doing the workload of THREE full-time employees. I felt exploited because I worked extremely hard and developed several groundbreaking programs, solutions and processes - yet I received little to no credit, often gritting to find out that people higher up in the bureaucratic chain unduly received credit for my contributions. There were also several employees that had such "job security" that they literally played video games and did NOTHING all day, yet, they coasted along getting paid from the money I helped bring in. :/ Which, okay, it happens... but after consistently requesting help from management (on several occasions in various ways: casual talk, series of meetings, presentations etc.) -- NO ACTION was ever taken. I didn't feel as though my requests were taken seriously and were treated as almost an "inconvenience" that got pushed to the back burner. I didn't have any support I could trust and was torn between the vested interests of my company and their agenda and that of my client site customers. *I did see immediate organizational upheaval and new structure & management changes upon my resignation. Hopefully, things have been running a little more smoothly these days. :)
