Pros
To be honest, the only positive about the company as a whole is that we have remote work. Other than that, most of our coworkers are good.
Cons
Really a difficult place to work for people in software engineering. My peers are good for the most part, but there are a few difficult people among them. The company, on the other hand, has seriously deteriorated over the past 3 years or so. We've had 3 rounds of IT layoffs in the past 7 years, which seems ridiculously high for a small company, so I'd say it's a really insecure place to work in software. Recently, there has been a big push towards product development rather than software development, which may be a good direction in general, but it will for sure fail because the devestment in the IT department is going to create a huge gap in how much work employees do. I think the work is overwhelming, with almost no support from management other than the same typical empty things you hear from management. In addition to that, there is absolutely 0 employee appreciation or recognition from the business. I've never once been told something positive or encouraging from anyone other than my direct manager, despite the extraordinary things that other people I work with and I have done. We haven't even been given raises to match inflation for the past 4 years, despite last year being our most profitable year in the history of the company. I used to be on the fence about suggesting this company to others, but I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere if you are looking to work in the software/engineering department, based on how unstable a position it is, and how little support we get from our management.
