Pros

- The clients you work with are nice but that's about it.

Cons

- Very small team of maybe 3 people - Small office - Despite what is mentioned about the company culture you will feel like you are being watched all day long. - Unwelcoming demeanor when you go for lunch... it's as if they don't want you to go. - CEO is arrogant, if you ask for help don't expect much. It's like in school where you have the one person telling you what to do but they could easily do it themselves but rather they watch you do it as you're confused because it's not your idea. - High employee turnover. - No real business structure. - Zero benefits.

Languages in Motion Response

Thanks for the feedback. We do believe that our company does its best to help make our employees' experiences as fulfilling as possible. Unfortunately, each employee's experience differs. Regarding the pros mentioned: We do value our clients and we are glad the respondent feels the same. Regarding the cons mentioned: We have had a small team because we're growing. Hiring new staff is challenging and since our company has grown mostly organically, rapid expansion is not as easy as it is for a company with substantial amounts of investor capital. It is possible the respondent was with us for a few months during our growth stage where we were doing our best to cut on costs and were working in a small office. This didn't last for too long though (maybe 2 months max). In the last 9 months, we've actually expanded our office space to allow our employees to have substantially more space. We are not sure how a person felt like they were being watched as we purposely promote autonomy in our company so people feel that they can be free to make their own decisions. We do however expect each person to provide open communication with the entire team so we can all work together. We were surprised to see that someone feels this way about our CEO. He tries his best to empower his team by giving them the freedom to act as they choose and become the people they truly are, whatever shape that might take on. We disagree that there is high employee turnover. The vast majority of our employees have stayed with us for over a year (5 years in operation) and the reason some have left in the past has been due to personal issues. We've been working on our corporate and business structure since day one. Starting and growing a company isn't easily learned overnight. We would, however, appreciate a better definition of "real business structure" and would have been eager to improve on this when the respondent was present.

Pros

Languages in Motion is no longer a startup, which brings a sense of stability and structure to the work environment. I really enjoy working with the leadership team and being part of the office atmosphere. The team is friendly, supportive, and always ready to help. There are about 10 people working in the office, which creates a close-knit and collaborative environment. The office itself is spacious, with separate rooms, and all necessary equipment is provided. It is located downtown, making it very convenient to commute. There is also a large, comfortable kitchen area with couches for relaxing, a capsule coffee machine, and a weekly fruit box every Monday. It’s fully equipped if you prefer to bring your own lunch. Every holiday is celebrated in the office. The administrator organizes decorations, small events, contests, and gifts, which really adds to the sense of community and makes the workplace feel warm and engaging. Personally, the atmosphere is very important to me, and here I feel safe and supported every day. Workload is manageable, processes are transparent, salaries are always paid on time, and leadership is approachable. We work together in the office as one team. We start our mornings with quick team check-ins to plan the day, and end the week on Fridays with a positive and often lighthearted team meeting. I love LIM!

Cons

The role is primarily office-based, and you are generally expected to work from the office. However, there is some flexibility to work from home a few days per month. On the positive side, it is always easy to take time during the day for personal appointments, such as doctor visits or errands.
