We are very much encouraging managers to have conversations with their team members about their careers and future ambitions so they can be supported with their development. In addition we have 2 promotion cycles each year to help support this and are now making the promotion process more visible so employees (and managers) can find out what is required.

2ySorry to hear you had such a poor experience at LSH. We expect all new staff to be trained and be given the tools to do their jobs. If this doesn't happen for any reason, they are encouraged to speak to their line manager or directly to HR so we can work to resolve any issues. We don't expect employees to suffer without being any given training on how to do their job. You referenced the positive support from your line manager and it should be part of their role to seek to identify training requirements and contact the relevant teams in order to out that in place.
