Pros
- Pre-Gartner, it was a cavalry of astute, tireless, incisive kids creating work no one else was (at the time). - Learning data visualization (I don't mean automation in PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) but rather tailoring data to tell a compelling story for a variety of audiences so they can make informed, data-grounded decisions = this has served me well throughout my career since. - Still some of the brightest people I met. - Explicitly bold and streamlined visual identity
Cons
- Like most startups, the early adopters were favored significantly by management. - When they brought the "adults" into the picture as we approached buy-out, they were not vertical-specific, and crucially, as senior employees, didn't feel the need to scour net new sectors. On the client side, this meant those of us who were paid 1/3x were scrambling to mitigate their lapses. - Clear path to growth was flimsy and under-baked at best.
