Pros
I enjoyed my salon manager and was lucky enough to genuinely like my coworkers, and the hours were decently flexible. The free tanning & 50% off products was also nice of course.
Cons
The bosses above my manager were awful. They did not have a clue about what salons actually needed and were not at all informed about what the day to day shifts were like. Complaints about valid issues with customers/within the salon (equipment being broken, things needing to be ordered, customer account issues, etc) took forever to actually be addressed. We were paid late on numerous occasions and when we asked what the issue was our bosses would literally not respond. Going to corporate out of frustration also did absolutely nothing. The commission structure is a joke. The way they spoke to employees was astounding (I have been there when employees were SCREAMED at—to the point where they were in tears—over things that absolutely did not warrant that). They would get upset about the lack of cleanliness and employee attitudes in some salons—rightly so—yet wouldn’t actually do anything to correct it. Overall they had a lack of respect for their employees, a lack of knowledge about how to effectively run the salons, and did not genuinely listen to issues brought up by employees. I was very happy with my manager and the coworkers specifically at my salon, but everyone above them is a mess. The fact that there is a such a high turnover in that company and they have not put together that maybe they should adjust how they run the business is mind blowing to me.
