Pros

This would have been an so so part time job as it was in the evenings. I suppose if you really enjoy math or want to become a teacher, it would look nice on the resume. It's a straightforward job. You just mark the kid's work as fast as possible.

Cons

No breaks would have been provided despite working more than 4 hours plus it would be in the evening so it would not be possible. I don't like crying children, overly stressed out about not being able to do their homework in the limited time provided. I was stressed too working there, not just because of the kids but I felt like the pressure seemed to spread to Assistants too. When I did something wrong, I felt very judged by management. One-on-one support for some children is needed. Therefore, I don't think it's a good idea for young children who have anxiety. It's very stressful for the Assistants too. You have to know your math and be a good role model but the support is limited. There is no positive outlook - at least I'm very doubtful of it. It also goes against what we're taught in University, how children learn best. This is old school Asian style drilling type of an approach, which doesn't always work. I felt like most of the children there don't really care for learning for the fun of it but they just want the right answer. It's meaningless in that sense and takes away the joy out of learning. It is NOT a long term solution. However, for a junior or high school student who is driven to become an academic or cares enough about their grades, then I guess it's helpful in the math department. I would NOT recommend it for babysitting purposes or to get your children to do their homework. I would also NOT recommend the reading part of it. Instead, a caring and experienced tutor is worth the money, not Kumon. They really need to update their approach. There is not such thing as perfection. Never again.

Pros

Contributing to an educational environment, work didn't require any prior experience.

Cons

Management consistently took in more kids than the employees had capacity for, which lead to a lot of crunch for what should have been a straightforward task. The amount of work we were required to do did not scale with the $8 an hour I was receiving.
