Pros
KMart is a fairly decent beginning job for those who lack any work experience. Can create a great work ethic, if you have coworkers and managers that have one, that is. Excessive cross-training. Basic PoG training. Customer service knowledge. High retention rate.
Cons
I have been working for Kmart for a little over 2 years. I have been cross-trained in every department, with little compensation for my experience. (Pharmacy, Layaway, Electronics, Jewelry, Garden Shop, Front End, etc.) The only reason I make $7.75 is because of a recent raise freeze lift (which weirdly froze full-time promotions) for Service Desk Associates. High work load and responsibility without being properly benefited is a huge negative. The reason for my experience description is that after one year, and you're not making over minimum wage, you probably won't be.
