Pros

We have been working with Kirk and Randall Ltd since March 2018 and have found them to be a professional organisation who have been working on some extremely challenging projects for many years. They are well established within the industry and hold several long-standing affiliations with various consultants and sub-contractors. Their commitment to design refinement and ability to achieve the highest quality for the best value, makes working with them enjoyable and a privilege.

Cons

Finding commercially-minded, passionate, experienced and talented designers willing to work outside London has been a challenge.

Kirk + Randall Response
5y
We respect the right of anyone, including former employees, to have an opinion of us as a company. We also relish feedback from any corner, in order to be able to improve as a company. No one has left the company, other than on good terms in recent memory, and certainly not around the time this review was posted. There is also nothing really constructive in the review to respond to, but as this is our only review, and it is a bad one, we feel a response is necessary. Regarding Employees of Kirk & Randall during 2020 - the time this review was posted - and the (ongoing as of 19.05.21) Covid-19 pandemic: Kirk & Randall maintained the employment of all employees during the Covid-19 pandemic, despite elsewhere in the country there being closures of sites and offices. Employees were offered the option of being furloughed if they were, or felt they were vulnerable. All but one of the employees who were with Kirk & Randall at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, are still employed, healthy and happy, with Kirk & Randall. The Architect who left and who we are on friendly terms with, left to pursue a more design-centric career path. Regarding Pros of working for the company: We feel that we work on exceptional projects, and give our employees creative space in order to develop their skills and work in their areas of responsibility. We often go for Team Lunches in the local pubs. We support each other as a team. The offices are set within the grounds of a beautiful 1800s Country House. We offer CPD/training for Design/Office staff, along the lines of RIBA Core Curriculum. Regarding Cons of working for the company: It's necessary to drive to our offices, it is not a City Centre location. Nearest towns are Ware and Hertford, and it's feasible if a little inconvenient to get out of the offices for a lunch break. We treat everyone as professionals and adults, and assume they can be accountable for their work, this doesn't suit everyone. As we work closely with our construction colleagues, we start at 8am every morning. There are pressures - we both Design and Build, but this also offers a reward in being able to see work realised on a daily basis.
